Scott LePenske Named DEVNET Inc. Vice President of Sales and Marketing

DEVNET Inc. is pleased to welcome Scott LePenske as its new Vice President of Sales and Marketing. LePenske brings nearly 30 years of experience working with Local Government, including counties and cities throughout the United States for the last 16 years.

LePenske will be working with DEVNET’s Sales and Marketing staff to maintain and expand the client base in Illinois and drive new business in states where DEVNET currently has an integrated Land Records Management solution in place.

“I have had the great opportunity to work with and meet some wonderful people throughout the Midwest,” LePenske said. “I’m looking forward to building my existing relationships and starting new ones. We want to grow DEVNET’s business in a smart and reasonable way. The key to success in the government market is growing smart. You don’t necessarily have to take every piece of the pie.”

As a member of the Illinois Association of County Officials (IACO) for the past 11 years, LePenske has worked with the organization to build and promote the IACO Scholarship program and its spring golf outing. “I’m very proud of how the IACO scholarship program has grown over the past 10 years,” he remarked. “Some bright and talented kids have been awarded scholarships, and their parents and grandparents should be very proud.”

Over the years, LePenske has become familiar with DEVNET through his connection with longtime DEVNET Legislative SME and Illinois Project Manager Steve Connell.

Henderson County is in west-central Illinois on the Mississippi River along the Great River Road. It covers 1,859 square miles and has a population of over 7,300. Joedy Smith Named Support Specialist/Project Manager at DEVNET Inc.

Joedy Smith, an experienced member of the DEVNET team since 2007, has been named Support Specialist/Project Manager. Smith joined DEVNET in 2007 as Helpdesk Manager and has filled many roles, including Programming Support Manager, in the ensuing years. He has excelled in leading the support team and has established longstanding relationships and excellent rapport with clients and colleagues alike.

As a DEVNET Support Specialist/Project Manager, Smith will devote his energies to developing long-term relationships with existing and potential clients, working to add system functionality and enhancements, and keeping customers up and running.

“Over the last nine years, I have acquired valuable knowledge and experience on the Tax Cycles in Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Ohio, and Virginia,” Smith said. “I have become a subject matter expert in multiple areas of the tax cycle, including but not limited to CAMA, Assessment Administration, and Billing and Collection. With my past experience in a support role, I have acquired skills that allow me to assist in multiple areas of field support and project management.”

Smith’s deep background in and knowledge of the use of DEVNET Edge™ applications has led to extensive involvement in customer training, and he has conducted regular DEVNET product demonstrations.

DEVNET’s Aaron Tyska Moves to Project Manager

DEVNET is pleased to announce that Aaron Tyska has been promoted from Field Support Representative to Project Manager. Tyska has been with DEVNET since 2012 and has been an essential part of implementation efforts in Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, and Pennsylvania on projects ranging from Vital Records and Permitting and Zoning to CAMA and the full suite of Property Tax solutions.

Prior to joining DEVNET, Tyska worked in the environmental health area of county government, an experience that gave him a unique knowledge set for his DEVNET responsibilities. In his role as Project Manager, Tyska sees many opportunities to cultivate relationships with DEVNET customers.

Jon Cross Joins DEVNET as Regional Sales Manager for Ohio

DEVNET Welcomes Matt Bryant as New Chief Technology Officer

DEVNET Incorporated is excited to announce that on May 4, 2015, Matt Bryant was named to its leadership team as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Bryant joins DEVNET after almost 16 years with the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Company Bruce Harris & Associates, where he recently led the development of a GIS-driven field appraisal system that won Wayne County, Ohio, a Special Achievement in GIS award from Esri, the global leader in GIS technology.

In his new role, Bryant will be responsible for leading engineering, information technology, and software development functions to deliver best-in-class solutions and services to DEVNET clients. One of Bryant’s immediate tasks in his new role will be integrating GIS and native GIS functionality throughout the DEVNET Edge™ solutions.

Jeffrey Varner joins DEVNET as Sales Manager

DEVNET, Inc., is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Varner has joined the DEVNET sales team as a new Sales Manager.

 Jeff is currently a member of the Swatara Township Board of Commissioners in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania and will continue serving in this capacity. Prior to making the decision to join DEVNET, Jeff served as the Deputy Director of Communications and Special Assistant to the Lieutenant Governor in the Lieutenant Governor’s Office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

 In his new role at DEVNET, Jeff is responsible for lead generation and managing the sales effort throughout Pennsylvania and other assigned territories. “I’m excited to be a member of the DEVNET team and look forward to building long-term client relationships,” Jeff said. “I embrace the opportunity to provide local government leaders with DEVNET products that will empower them to provide solutions as they serve the public.”

During his four years with the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, Jeff developed relationships across the entire state of Pennsylvania. He visited every county numerous times and worked together with state and local leaders on a wide range of issues. The Lieutenant Governor was chairman of the Local Government Advisory Committee that met regularly with various public officials across the Commonwealth to discuss how the state could better meet the needs of local governments. Jeff, as a staffer, gained unique insight into county government operations and established extensive associations.

As a Swatara Township commissioner, Jeff is currently Chairman of the Codes Committee and serves on the Recreation Committee and the Contract Negotiation Committee. He has strengthened his relationships with local government leaders and has experienced firsthand how government efficiency benefits the public.

Dauphin County has been a DEVNET client since 2005, and it was through the county that Jeff was introduced to DEVNET. “It has been evident that DEVNET takes pride in and places importance on the relationships it forms,” he noted. “DEVNET is an industry leader that has a commitment to continuously improve its product and services.
